The Architecture of a System
The State of New Mexico Office of the CIO looks at why a CMDB connects architecture to operations in an excellent graphic that is led off with the following statement:
"The architecture of an information technology (IT) system is the structures of the system, which comprise software and hardware, the externally visible properties of those components, and the relationships among them."
